Wind School in Illinois:  Snapshot

The purpose of the solar electricity systems on schools is to help educate students and help communities learn that solar electricity can be generated near their homes.  With teacher training, the solar electricity systems become teaching tools for schools.  One of these solar schools is the Rhodes School in River Grove, Illinois.  John Mertes is the key teacher there and details about their solar electricity project (1 kW) can be found at the web site www.IllinoisSolarSchools.org

John Mertes did not rest after getting the solar installation.  He went on to also add a 2.4 kW Skystream wind turbine.  Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation and BP helped with funding.  The snapshot is below.  The school web page and data for this project are also on the web site:
